Russell T. Stuermann, MD

Dr. Stuermann was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He graduated from Dorman High School in 1998 and received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Clemson University in 2002, graduating with Cum Laude honors. Dr. Stuermann played football for Clemson University and earned awards as a student-athlete including the team’s highest GPA award. Following undergraduate work, Dr. Stuermann earned his medical degree from University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC in 2007. During his medical school years, he served as class president each of his four years of study. Following medical school, Dr. Stuermann completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2011.

Dr. Stuermann joined Medical Center Anesthesiology in Shreveport, Louisiana where he served the local community for eight years. During his time as an anesthesiologist, he worked closely with hospital administrators and was a member of the medical executive committee because of his desire to improve the delivery of health care.

Dr. Stuermann’s experience with acute pain management generated interest in interventional pain management and the desire to pursue additional training and specialization in Pain Management. Dr. Stuermann completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY in 2020.

During the time that Dr. Stuermann has served as a physician, he recognizes the unique nature of each patient’s situation and extended his training and exposure to plans that may offer pain relief to his patients with the understanding that people respond to treatment in a variety of ways.

Dr. Stuermann and his family call Shreveport home. When time allows, Dr. Stuermann enjoys college football, bike riding and living life to the fullest with his wife, son and two daughters.
